Duke University (Sanford School) is a co-member of a consortium known as the TISS-IC CAE (Triangle Institute for Security Studies-Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence) in Intelligence and Security Studies. The goal of this consortium is to develop a cadre of highly qualified undergraduates well equipped to meet the intelligence needs of our nation. Duke emphasizes exacting standards of analysis, provides students with the tools for dealing with uncertainty, equips them to understand the role of intelligence, and gives them a sound foundation for understanding the complex and changing security environment. At the same time, we will heighten public understanding of intelligence issues and work to increase minority student participation in our programs.
