counterterrorism-policy
Professor David Schanzer teaches a MOOC based on his Duke course: Understanding 9/11
Understanding 9/11 explains the historical, political, religious and cultural factors that led to the creation of al Qaeda and inspired its members to execute the 9/11 attack. The course also considers the concept of terrorism as a form of political violence and explains why U.S. counterterrorism policies prior to 9/11 were inadequate for detecting the plot and preventing the success of the attack.
This course is available as an “on-demand” format, meaning that the materials will be available at all times and students can complete the course at their own pace.
